Dad's Day with His Daughter

I was home from work today (while Judy worked) and Abby and I walked up town to go to the bank, so I decided to snap a picture of her in the drive through. During our walk we visited a man from church, saw my cousin, my aunt, and enjoyed the brisk sunny day. I am sorry I didn't get a better picture of Abby. The teller at the bank had given her a sticker, and she was busy looking at it.

Onion Breath

I was making dinner tonite, and Abby was on her chair "helping" me as usual. One of the ingredients for dinner was chopped onions, so I got one out and chopped up the portion I needed. Next thing I knew, Abby had grabbed the rest of the onion off the counter and was proceeding to knaw on it! YUMMY!! She didn't seem at all turned off by the taste or smell.

Following in Daddy's Footsteps

There is a (not so) funny story from Randy's childhood that he likes to tell to young children as a lesson to them. It goes something like this:

Randy was in the old Sears store in Bellingham, and he wanted candy from the candy machines. Instead of paying for the candy, he tried to steal it by sticking his hand up the dispenser to dig out a piece. When he stuck his hand in and grasped a piece of candy, his hand got stuck! He screamed and made quite a scene, but he could not get his hand out! A store clerk finally got him to let go of the candy and relax his hand. By doing so, he was able to get his hand out.

The moral of the story is DON'T STEAL!

Well, a couple weeks ago Abby and I went to the Jump Zone in Bellingham and had a fun play date with some of her cousins. Most of the slides were too advanced for her, but she did find the candy machines! :) When I saw her peeking into the dispenser, I immediately thought about Randy's story and took pictures so I could show him.

Dough, Diapers, and Da-Da

As I mentioned earlier, Randy was home with Abby for 2 weeks. They had a great time together! Daddy taught Daughter some valuable skills, like:

How to mix play-dough and hold the cup in your teeth.

How to put a diaper on your dolly.

How to shave your whiskers like Daddy.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

We, like everyone else in the country, received a good dumping of snow over the last couple weeks. I took several pictures on Christmas Eve, thinking that would be the most we would get.

I was wrong. We got another dump on Christmas Day. In all, we think we had around 24" in our yard. Our biggest drift on the west side of the house was about 3 ft tall. It was really pretty snow, really cold (temps were in the teens and 20's for about 3 weeks), and really dry, which made it decently easy to get around in. I took a walk around the yard and got some neat photos.

Our van handles quite well in the snow (thankfully), so we were able to enjoy our usual Christmas traditions. We went to Randy's parents' house on Christmas Eve and ate pizza, salad, and dessert, read the Christmas story in Luke 2, played games, and the kids opened some presents. On Christmas Day, we got together with Randy's mom's extended family for a potluck and games.

How to build a tower

Randy was home with Abby for two weeks in December, and during that time they had the opportunity to perfect their tower-building skills. Here's how it goes:

Start with junk vidoes that are slated for the dump.

Then add your stacking animal blocks that you received for Christmas:

On top of that, stack your collection of empty yogurt cups and any other blocks you can find around the house. The goal is to get it up to the ceiling.

YAY! We succeeded!

Now for the best part: KNOCK IT DOWN!!!
